What can I do to avoid gum disease?
Gum disease (periodontal disease) is a bacterial infection
that attacks the gum and bone supporting the teeth. In fact,
the most current research links gum disease to heart disease,
stroke, and other systemic aliments. In the early stages,
gum disease is not apparent to the patient. Just as high blood
pressure is called “the silent killer,” gum disease
is the “silent killer” of your teeth. The earlier
periodontal disease is detected, the sooner you can get it
under control. If your gums are bleeding, even slightly, it
is often a sign of gum disease.
Does whitening your teeth hurt?
